Where the Wild Things Weren’t

NYTimes essayist, Bruce Handy, criticizes the short, children’s picture book becoming a film.

I really, really want to go see this movie today. Maybe I will. Too bad I already used my free movie tickets…

Every time I watch this film, I cannot get over how amazing it is.
I watched it again tonight.

23 Movie plots that could have been solved in minutes

Friday Foreign Film - La Haine

Friday Foreign Film - La Haine

During some commercials for Conan, the trailer for the new GI Joe movie played. I do not plan to see this film, just FYI. haha

But it reminded me of this time last summer. I was in Prague, Czech Republic with 10 others from Georgia and we were in this bagel shop and Channing Tatum was sitting there at a table. I really didn’t know who he was, but all of the girls in our group began freaking out, as you can see from my friend Alex’s face in this picture. Turns out it really was him.

They were filming the movie in Prague even though it really takes place in Paris. Apparently this isn’t the first time Hollywood has done this. Mission Impossible (1996) was filmed in Prague as well. For these films they change all of the street names in the filming area to French names and the buildings already look similar.

Oh and of course, this spurred the need for the group to immediately watch Step Up (1 & 2) right when we returned to the house we were staying at. blehh.

Oh, this is going to be great!

Yesterday and today, the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra is performing music from the classic James Bond films.
Tonight would be the night for those excellent $5.00 student tickets!…If I was in Jax.

I saw Star Trek this evening with the family. I am in no way a trekie [sic?], but these were the things that made the film hilarious for me:

The kid who played Chekov, pictured above, made me laugh every time he came on the screen. The thick accent and slight language barrier was perfect.
The fact that Tyler Perry played a pretty serious role as the Admiral. That made me laugh as well! It was like having Madea show up every once in a while and shoutin’ “Hallelu-yer!”
Oh, and the line said by Dr. Bones, “Are you out of your Vulcan mind!?” The word ‘Vulcan’ will now be substituted for f?*@ing or freaking from now on.
